Clinical Oversight
All clinical decisions relating to the Sound of Hope programme - patient eligibility, surgical scheduling, and post-operative care - rest exclusively with the specialist medical team at Steve Biko Academic Hospital and the University of Pretoria's Department of Otorhinolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery. Patient selection follows internationally recognised audiological criteria, with absolute clinical discretion retained by the treating specialists at every step. Sound of Hope's role is to fund and enable access to care; it does not, and will never, direct or influence a single clinical decision. This separation of fundraising and clinical authority is a core governance principle of our organisation.
